D.L. Bliss State Park

Driving along the western shore of Lake Tahoe, we had plenty of company. On this final day of Memorial Day weekend, all of the tourists wanted one last Tahoe experience. As we passed Eagle Falls and Emerald Bay, not a parking space was to be found. But a little further up the road, we pulled into D.L. Bliss State Park, gladly paying the $7 for some nature and solitude. We were the only ones to navigate the trail to "balancing rock", a 130 ton granite boulder being held up by Aaron and Jordan. Later, we hiked to an old lighthouse which yielded spectacular views of the lake and still snow-topped mountains. Our day was concluded on the white sandy beach. Although the water was still very cold, the kids loved splashing around. Best of all, we shared it with family - Mary and Grandpa, Grandma, Julie and Matt joined the adventure - a day of Bliss, really.

I knew that rock looked familar! What a great shot of the guys holding it up! I think I read that one day, that rock will fall. Glad it wasn't on the day you were there! The picture of Julie and Matt turned out really nice. Glad to see you handed over the camera, so we could see a picture of YOU! Isn't that beach the best! After visiting some of the other Tahoe beaches, I realize how nice DL Bliss is! It's even nicer later in the summer when the water is warm. ~D
