Taylor Creek

I spent many childhood vacations in Tahoe. As the summer approached, I would eagerly scan the "Payless" sales add for inflatable pool toys. I would then try to earn money and buy something for my brother and I to play with. Swimming was a highlight of our vacations. Another highlight was going to Taylor Creek with my dad. As my mom gambled away the family's supply of nickels, Dad took us for hikes. And so, as I planned our Tahoe trip, I included Taylor Creek as our first stop. The "Rainbow Trail" took us through beautiful meadows, over the creek, and to an underwater viewing area where the kids got to see fish. It was even better than I remembered as a child, and it was great to have Dad take the trek with us. After Taylor Creek, we went to adjacent Tallac Historic site to meet up with Dave, Jen, and Grandma for a day at the beach. I hope that I am building positive memories with my kids - the kind that keeps them coming back for more.
