Ryan's New Bike

Ryan is now officially joining the ranks of "big boy" with his new bike. Although he has training wheels, it's a step up from his tricycle. On his first trip to the community park, he drove like Grandma Moses - as slow as molasses. He kept using the brakes and veering off into the grass, nervously laughing and saying "I can't do it." He'd stop to avoid hitting the stray insect that ventured into his path, and got off to rescue a wayward worm. On a walk that should have taken 10 minutes, he finally clocked in at 46 minutes (not that I was looking at my watch or anything). As he was learning to pedal, bike, and steer, I was learning to enjoy the moment. After all, it's easy to stop and smell the roses when you're walking with Grandma Moses.
