The thought of turning "38"

When I was a kid, my sister wrapped up an eraser for my birthday. It was something she found around the house. My mom didn't want her to give it to me, thinking I would be disappointed. But I wasn't. I still remember it to this day. And my 38th birthday was no different. When Jordan and Kylie got home from school, they scrambled to gather and wrap my gifts. From Ryan, I received a ball point pen and plastic rooster. Kylie selected two of her prized seashells, along with a butterfly coin purse, and small treasure chest. Jordan made me a purple paper airplane that was titled "Laurie Express", and also made a rainbow puppet out of a paper bag. That leaves Aaron. After 20 years together, he has learned not to buy me flowers (ever), and that I like either white cake with white frosting, or cheesecake. He also has learned not to buy me gifts (I'm pretty good at doing that on my own), and that I like cards with lots of personal touches and take-out Chinese food. All my favorite. All very thoughtful. And that's what counts the most.

Happy Birthday! The cheesecake looks yummy, it's one of my favorites too! Sorry for the lack of "personal touches" on my card. You know me, always in a rush. At least I didn't leave it blank, like I am known to do! ~D
