Butterfly Release

As we approached the Chattanooga aquarium for the second year in a row, the kids knew what to expect. They were excited to see some of the hands-on areas, including the butterfly garden. After trying to see them in the evening, we decided that morning was a more active time, and came back during the daily butterfly release. The kids were so excited, and ran around, one finger out, waiting for their butterfly. An employee of the aquarium was handing out butterflies to the kids, and entrusted Jordan with the biggest I had ever seen. Ryan waited patiently for his turn, and found a nice purple flower to put his on. Kylie was in her element, standing like a statue until one would land on her. She searched for injured butterflies, and was heartbroken to find one covered in ants. She brought it to me, and we removed one ant at a time until it was better. She then rescued a few more, just as she rescues worms, bugs, and insects from our yard. It was a really nice time - a release from everything else.

It sounds like Kylie may have a future in helping out animals...or at least butterflies and insects! Sounds like a cool place to visit. ~D
