The Slump is Over
Last night, Jordan played his 9th game of kid pitch baseball. This has been a tough transition for him, as he is the youngest on his team of 9-11year old players, and not very experienced. To this point, he has hit the ball the same number of times the ball has hit him (once). And for the first time in his life, he told me "I stink". This is heartbreaking for a mom, and especially me - who sees Jordan trying so hard at each and every practice. Since I don't know a lot about baseball, I turned to what I know - track. My coach used to have us visualize our perfect performance. So, before Jordan's game last night, we worked on catching, batting, and visualizing 20 perfect hits.
In the video clip above, Jordan is at bat with bases loaded. You can see that kid pitch can get pretty wild, as the first pitch is thrown behind Jordan's back. I was so happy for Jordan when he hit it, and the rest of the parents erupted in cheers. If you watch the video, you can see the first base coach getting after him for not running "through" the base, but all of the coaches were sure to give him praise. I'm hoping that he can turn "I stink" into "I can", and put this slump into baseball retirement.

I'm so happy for Jordan! I am sure it's a nice boost for his self esteem! This is my second time trying to view the video but it just takes me to the YouTube page and not your video? Maybe I am doing something wrong? ~D
Great hit, Jordan! You may never get a perfect pitch, but it takes skill to make something with what you do get. -Glen
