Family Portrait

When our friends Doug and Caroline were visiting a few weeks ago, they took a (rare) picture of our family. Not since our failed attempt at Christmas have we asked somebody to take on such a feat. Those unfamiliar with this process have no idea how such a seemingly simple task can turn into a practice of frustration. Just having everyone standing and looking in the same direction was an accomplishment, and the smiles were a bonus. The only one not smiling was Ryan. That is, until he created a family portrait of his own.

Earlier this week, he was drawing on the board, and for the first time drew something I could recognize. Later, he added magnetic numbers and letters. He put the first letter of everyone's name, and a letter for their age. When he asked me what "number" I was, I said "37", so he put a "7" by the "L". I thought it was pretty creative, and actually liked his version of my hair better than the real picture.

Great family picture! it's not how the rest of the family looks, it's how we look...right? ha ha! Love Ryan's pictures. Chase is finally drawing things we can recognize too. ~D
