Yard at Work

It seems that every year I have some kind of amnesia that makes me forget all the yard work that rolls in with the spring. From the pruning of the bushes, cutting of grasses, never ending weeding and mulching, the yard gives me a good excuse to be outside. Last year, my nemesis was a dense ornamental grass called Adagio Miscanthus. The brown part must be cut back annually, a task that takes forever. I vowed that this time would be different. My answer - Home Depot. I felt like Tim the Toolman Taylor as I stood in front of the hedge trimmers. I scoffed at the wimpier models, and was drawn to more horsepower, dual blades, and a cutting capacity to handle 3/4" branches. The Miscanthus was toast. And the best part about it...the lure of a power tool helped recruit Aaron. The kids even pitched in with rakes, and built themselves quite a nest. We ended up filling almost two garbage containers full, making all of our yard work really pay off.
