'Twas the Day Before Thanksgiving - a Holiday Story

'Twas the day before Thanksgiving

I was running some errands

Much anticipating

a feast with some friends

In the bedding department of Macy's

my last shopping chore

When Ryan got sick

on me and the floor

An in one fail swoop

Despite plans laid so well

Went our entire Thanksgiving

and our new car smell

But in a twinkle of an eye

I saw it so clear

I was surrounded by those

I hold so close and so dear

A reason to give thanks

to celebrate with glee

It was time to pull out

the "fake" Christmas tree

The kids so excited

giving all of their power

until the novelty wore off

in the first half hour

And like the kid's guppy

I now care for myself

I was left to decorate,

Santa's only elf

And Aaron untangling

light after light

A true Griswald Christmas

Surely in sight

Now the house all decorated

lights tree and all

Hoping that Santa

Will soon come to call

WOW, what can I say? That stinks...literally! I guess you will be carrying barf bags in the car from now on.

I'm impressed with your poetic ability and the speed in which you deal with bodily functions. Your house looks great; a true Martha Stewart.

Great poem. Dave says you have a knack for it. He told me the story about you his speech at graduation.

The tree looks great. Did the kids like their picture ornaments? Hope so. Didn't see them in the pictures.

We have yet to start on the inside. Dave put up some outdoor lights. I picked up some blue ones because he always told me about your blue tree in Aptos. I think it looks nice, just kinda reminds me of Hanukkah. I just need to reprogram my brain.

Oh, Henry only had one Elf outfit. It just looks darker in the Sears pics. Believe me that took too long to make two.
